“Senator Rick Santorum is a true modern day hero. He bravely stepped up to run for the office of the President of the United States campaigning the old fashioned way, with shoe leather. Rick held over 380 town hall meetings throughout Iowa sharing his heart and vision for America. December 18th, Santorum was polling at less than 3%, but on January 3rd he won Iowa by 34 votes and then went on to win 11 states as well as coming in a close second in many others! Even though he was often outspent 12 to 1, Rick won more counties than all of his opponents combined! And who knows, if the other candidate who drew some of the conservative vote would have dropped out, Sen. Santorum might have clinched the Republican presidential nomination!
Our family has loved getting to know Rick and Karen Santorum and their sweet family. They are the real deal! This race and effort was not in vain. America is worth fighting for! Rick Santorum got people excited again! He made a difference by sharing truth and promoting conservative values. We are thankful for all those who gave of their time and resources to let their voice be heard. Rick’s secret weapon was the volunteers who developed a nationwide grassroots network that overcame millions of dollars in negative ads, and brought victories in state after state.
Rick connected to common voters as he shared about his coal miner grandfather who sacrificed all to bring his family to America. Rick articulated Ronald Reagan’s core platform about how important it is to fight for lower taxes and less government regulations in our lives, and to be aware that our rights come from our Creator. He stated, “If the government gives us our rights, it can take them away!” Rick does not take a poll to see where he stands on the issues, he is unwavering and has the proven track record to back him up! Rick is a man of principle when it comes to such issues as gun rights and defending the sanctity of human life. He believes that to have a strong economy we must have strong families, which starts with defending traditional marriage. He has boldly talked about the fact that if Obamacare is implemented it will change our nation from a free choice society, to becoming a socialist nation.
We have said Rick Santorum has a backbone of steel and a heart of gold! He speaks from his convictions based upon the Bible, the constitution and common sense. At his town hall meetings, he spoke without notes or teleprompters and would take any question asked him. It was refreshing to see a presidential candidate honestly sharing what he really believed, not changing just to state whatever people wanted to hear. One of the most frequent comments we’d hear about Rick after people listened to him speak was that they could tell he was genuine and they knew he was a man of character who would stand for what was right. Rick did not just run as a conservative, he is a conservative!
We pray for wisdom for whoever becomes our next President. America is on the brink of bankruptcy, with our huge debt and millions out of work. We cannot continue to borrow trillions from other countries to stay afloat. As a nation, we should not spend more than we earn. We must learn once again to live within our budget!
The past several months as we have volunteered with Rick’s campaign, we have experienced joy in winning as well as the disappointment of coming in behind by a few points. Even though Rick’s presidential race is now officially over, our family agrees, we would do it all over again because we believe that strongly in what he represents!
Now we are asking all the conservatives to band together, realizing that the future of our nation hinges on this critical election! It is important that we as Americans continue to fight for our freedoms and encourage our republican nominee when elected to stay true to promises made! Rick would be the first to tell you, this race was not about him, but about advancing the conservative values that our nation was founded upon.”
