Recap: Love and Loss

Jana, Jessa, Kendra, and Lauren team up with some of the little girls to make groom’s cakes for John and Abbie’s Wedding. Jessa asked why you would weigh your ingredients since she managed to find a recipe online. She doesn’t have a scale in her kitchen since she hasn’t ever baked a cake since the siblings prefer ice cream better. John and Abbie have three rules about the cake that the teams need to follow. The first two are that they must be gluten and sugar free since Abbie went off them to make sure that her stomach feels better. They also want the cake to have an aviation themed. John reveals cooking without gluten and sugar has not been an easy task since everything out there has both. Abbie jokes that it’s easy if you eat vegetables. Jessa team up with Johannah and finds out that her baking power is three years old and does a quick test to find out if it fizzes and it does. She ends up using it and they put an model airplane on the top of the cake. Lauren has team up with Jordyn and Josie and feels confident with her baking abilities. Lauren knows how it feels to be gluten free since it gives her cramps. Kendra has team up with Jennifer and they tried to make a successful batter using gluten free flour mix and sugar substitutes. The bottom of the cake breaks but taste good. They are able to cover it with frosting and they make paper airplanes and put them on the cake including cotton from Kendra’s inside plants. Jana is making a fourth cake while Jackson and Tyler make cardboard airplanes. Jana tastes the cake and notice that there is a different texture to the batter and admits that she is glad that she isn’t gluten free. The boys get help from Michelle with the fondant and it turns out pretty good. Jana reveals that she ended up redoing some of it. It’s time for the couple to have a blind taste test as the teams gather to watch it. There are laughs as they try each cake. John doesn’t like cake number 3 since it tasted dry and little bit eggy. The winners were: Jana’s team for most difficult and best show, Lauren’s team for most original, Kendra’s team for best tasting, Jessa’s team for best design. Jessa reveals that you never want to be that person were it’s pretty on the outside but bad on the inside but that is what they were. John and Abbie admit that they won’t be having a groom’s cake since they don’t need another cake that they won’t eat.
Jeremy and Jinger are taking Felicity to the birthing center to visit their midwife. Jeremy says that his daughter is a very happy baby and loves people. The couple is still adjusting to parenthood. They admit about talking about her and her bowel movements. The midwife decides to ink up Felicity’s feet to add her footprints to the walls of the birthing center.
Lauren feels some severe cramps and assumes that she ate something with gluten. She later realizes that she is miscarrying her baby. Lauren reveals that it was late at night when she noticed that her baby was gone. She could not believe it and hoped that it was not true. She felt that it was the worst day in her life. She praises both Michelle and her mother for being there for her and Josiah. Lauren reveals that she and Josiah wrote letters to the baby and put a special box together for their first child. She feels that her comfort is the fact that the baby is with Jesus and one day she will get to see her baby. Josiah hopes that the Lord will bless them with another one that will be a sibling to the one that they lost.
